Compositions
A collection of classical, contemporary, orchestral, electronic, pop, rock and jazz.
My Ethos
Whether writing for an intimate chamber setting, full orchestra, or scoring for film, my focus is always on motivic development, the idea of which is that the music will tell its own story and stand alone, with or without other media. Music is an art form with a means of expression like no other and it is integral that this is conveyed effectively in every composition.
My influences are broad and began with the classical repertoire, particularly Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and Chopin. I have a keen interest in serial composition and have studied in depth the music of the second Viennese school. Modern influences include Scott Joplin and the ragtime composers, swing and blues, particularly the styles of Duke Ellington and Oscar Peterson, the jazz realm, Latin music, and the large output of western popular music during the 20th century. For more on this see my repertoire. I also have a keen interest in film music and big band music. I see this as the continuation of the late romantic composers with visual aid.
I use Cubase 11 as my DAW. My studio is equipped with Yamaha HS7 monitors, a pair of Sennheiser HD600 Headphones, a Roland FP90, multiple screens, a blue Yeti Microphone, Multiple pencil mics, an acoustic piano, SM58 Microphones, a lighting rig, and a library of compositional texts including those from Schoenberg, Tchaikovsky, Berlioz, Strauss, and Rimsky Korsakov. Alongside this, I have studied and own thousands of scores from humanities musical development.

Penelope: Symphonic Poem in D Minor
‘Make people forget, make them believe, silence them. In all three cases, music is a tool of power’ (Attali 1977, p.19).
Music is often concerned with the arousing and channeling of desire, mapping patterns through the medium of sound that resemble those of gender and sexuality (McClary 1991, p.8). Touching on social theory and drawing on examples from the classical repertoire, I examine ways to explore the perception of gender and sexuality through traditional compositional processes.
Symphonic Suite in E Minor
Symphonic Suite in E Minor is a pastiche composition, written for my MA at the University of Sussex. It explores rhythmic and melodic musical motifs from various works that I have studied and attempts to fuse them all together in a way that is compositionally unique.
The scores this draws upon include: Berlioz ‘Symphonie Fantastique,’; Brahms, J ‘Symphony No.4,’; Debussy, C. ‘Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune,’ ; Dvorak, A.‘Symphony No. 9,’; Schumann, R ‘Symphony No. 4: D minor Op. 120,’;Wagner, R. ‘Die Walkure,’ ; Beethoven, L.V '‘Symphony No.7,’; Mozart. W.A ‘Symphony No.40’.
Solitudo Solitudinis
‘Solitudo Solitudinis’ is an attempt to convey the subjective emotional intention of a composer using minimal processes. It is designed to allow the listener the opportunity to choose certain paths based upon their own emotional interpretation of the listening experience; the outcome being an emulation of the emotional intention of the composer.
Pentatonic scales are ubiquitous in human society, so the choice of the major blues scale, Hirajoshi scale and ‘In’ scale, are interspersed with rhythms.
